Share of 35,000 will help parents struggling to cope with death of a child

PARENTS struggling to cope with the death of a child are among those who will be helped by a 35,000 giveaway.

The Compassionate Friends is just one out of 300 community groups guaranteed a share of the prize fund in the Post's Cash For Your Community Campaign.

The more tokens a group collects, the bigger its pay-out will be.

The Compassionate Friends is an organisation which helps and befriends parents whose child has died.

Pat and Jerry Morris, of the Notts branch of the group, say they are making every effort to collect tokens.

As well as asking members of the group to save coupons, members of St Andrew's With Castle Gate United Reformed Church and customers at In Trim, in Radford Road, are also collecting on their behalf.

"If we are successful it is our intention to spend the money distributing our leaflets to all funeral directors and others who may bring the attention of those who have suffered this grievous loss to the existence of our group," they said. "We can then hopefully help them rebuild their lives through reaching out to them."

As well as helping parents, the Compassionate Friends also helps grandparents and siblings affected by the death of a child.

As well as regular meetings, the group also organises fundraising activities, provides formal training to volunteers and works to raise public awareness about child death.

Readers can collect coupons for the Compassionate Friends every day until Friday, June 17. Remember to look out for double, triple and even quadruple coupon days.
