Birds Abandon Nests in Ash-Stricken Area

A snipe which made a nest on the grounds of the playschool in Kirkjubaejarklaustur has not been seen since last weekend and the four eggs in its nest are covered in ash. However, ornithologist Gudmundur A. Gudmundsson said the snipe might try laying eggs again.
