|||Manchester, England – Mario Balotelli has apologised to his Manchester City teammates for his sending-off in the Europa League match against Dynamo Kiev.
The Italy striker received a straight red card for a studs-first lunge at Dynamo defender Goran Popov in the 36th minute of Thursday's second-leg game in the last 16.
Balotelli says “the tackle was poor” and is sorry for getting dismissed “so early in such an important game.”
The score was 0-0 when Balotelli was sent off. City, which was 2-0 down from the first leg, won the return match at Eastlands 1-0
but was eliminated on aggregate.
Balotelli also apologized to Popov, adding Friday “it wasn't my intention to hurt anyone.”
