Beeston: A charity music night in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

The band HottBoxx had been due to perform at Beeston Youth and Community Centre tomorrow.

The band had arrange the gig as two of its members, who live in Chilwell, have grandsons who suffer from cystic fibrosis.

Bulwell: An information day will be held for residents.

The Safer Neighbourhood Police team will hold the event next Tuesday at Bulwell Market Place from 10am to 2pm.

People will also be able to quiz fire services, Job Centre staff and fitness experts from the Ken Martin Leisure Centre.

Everyone is welcome to attend to discuss any issues they have.

Nottingham: A charity for people with learning disabilities is appealing for people to help them by running a half marathon.

Mencap gives support to people who have learning disabilities and their families.

The charity is urging people to sign up to run the Robin Hood half marathon to raise cash so the service can continue.

Hockley: A fundraising quiz night is being held to raise money for this year's Notts Pride event.

The event will be held at the Lord Robert pub in Broad Street, Hockley, from 9pm on March 2.

This year's Notts Pride event, formerly called Nottingham Pride, will be held at the Forest Recreation Ground on Saturday, July 30.

It is an annual festival which aims to eliminate discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Lenton: A college campus has received an award.

Stephenson College's Nottingham Campus, off Lenton Lane, in Lenton, has earned the Gold Standard for Investors In People.

The award requires that 165 of the 196 criteria contained within the standard are satisfied.

The college managed to meet the criteria in 195 out of 196.

College principal Nigel Leigh said: "It is very pleasing for our college to achieve the gold standard for Investors In People.

"The score we recorded and the comments contained throughout the inspector's report are a strong endorsement of our management approach and recognition of our college values."

Carrington: New College Nottingham has been praised for the quality of its training courses.

The college has received an Association of Colleges' Beacon Award following a presentation held in Westminster, London, on February 9.

It was presented with the association's Create Award For College Engagement With Employers by John Hayes, minister for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning.

The award follows more than three years of work by the college to hone the training it offers to businesses.

College principal Geoff Hall said: "We are very proud to receive this prestigious award.

"It is testament to the quality and effectiveness of our employer training, which benefits both businesses and our learners."
