Trio stole handbag from female driver while she was in car

THREE men stole a handbag from the passenger seat of a car after smashing a window while the female driver was inside.

The woman was waiting at traffic lights near the John Cockle Inn pub, in Sutton Road, at about 3.15pm on Friday December 17.

The offenders snatched the bag, which she tried to hang on to, before they made off on foot towards Spinners Close.

The woman's credit cards, passport and black Samsung mobile phone were inside the bag. She was not injured but extremely shocked.

Police attended the scene but were unable to track down the offenders at the time.

Officers also want to trace key witnesses who they believe could hold vital information about the incident. They are keen to locate a man who is believed to have chased after the offenders and spoken to them. As yet, they have been unable to identify him and speak to him about what he saw.

The men are described as white, aged between 20 and 30, about 5ft 10ins and clean shaven. One was wearing a dark jacket and another was wearing a scarf.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to 1,000 for information which leads to the arrest and charge of the offenders.
