New gay bar planned to replace closed Hockley venue

PLANS have been revealed to open a gay bar at the former B-Bar in Heathcoat Street, which was closed following a stabbing in August.

Police complained about a series of other issues at the bar at the time including three glassing assaults.

However, under new plans it will be reopened as Rumours, predominantly for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-sexual community.

Only paying members will be allowed entry but it is not exclusively a gay bar as heterosexual people can also sign up.

It will be a cafe bar in the day, serving snacks and continental style lunches with broadband wireless available.

Alcohol will not be sold after 11.30pm.

Notts Police have agreed numerous conditions should the license be granted.

Nottingham City Council will make its decision at a meeting on December 30.
