BIRMINGHAM, England – West Bromwich Albion rallied to beat 10-man Aston Villa 2-1 in a Premier League derby in Birmingham on Saturday.

West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster fouled Gabriel Agbonlahor inside the area to set up Darren Bent's 23rd-minute successful penalty kick for Villa.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 35th after Chris Herd collided with Jonas Olsson. But Chris Brunt shot the ensuing penalty wide for West Brom, which by then had lost striker Shane Long to injury.

Olsson headed in the equalizer in the 45th before Paul Scharner connected with Brunt's outswinging corner to volley in the 57th-minute winner.

Villa's second straight league loss was its first to Birmingham rival West Brom at Villa Park since 1979. – Sapa-AP
