|||Authorities say investigators seized a sizable amount of explosives hidden inside a shipping container at a major port in Nigeria.
Nigeria Customs Service spokesman Wale Adeniyi said Saturday that agents seized the shipment at Lagos' Tin Can Port on Friday. Adeniyi said officials were unsure if the explosives were military or construction grade, but said importers labeled the shipment as containing industrial sockets and valves.
Adeniyi said an investigation is ongoing.
In October 2010, customs officials at Lagos' Apapa Port found a hidden shipment of 107 mm artillery rockets, rifle rounds and other weapons from Iran. The shipments come as Nigeria faces continued violence from a radical Muslim sect. -Sapa-AP
